Restoring Desktop Icons In Windows Vista

One of the first things I noticed when I got into the desktop after installing Vista was that the desktop was clean as a whistle. I missed my old icon friends that have made the journey with me through the older versions. I want them back!!! I found out it is quick and painless to do so.

Right Click on the desktop and click Personalize

Personalize your desktop

This brings up the Personalize appearance and sounds menu. In the upper left corner you will find and click Change desktop icons

Personalize apperance and sound menu

The Change desktop icons window has all our old friends listed. Place a check next to all the ones you want to add to the desktop and click Ok

Choose your desktop icon settings

After going back to your desktop you will see your nostalgic icons back where they belong!
